Gem writes for BBC One’s EastEnders and has an original animated YA comedy / drama series in development with Consec Industries. They were commissioned to adapt and write the pilot script for a YA television drama based on an Andy McNab book series and also participated in the Stolen Picture YA Incubator project working on the development of two drama series. In addition, they were the winner of the Soho Young Writers’ Award in 2013 for their play In Your Image.
After gaining a first class degree in Creative Writing and Drama at The University of Northampton Gem went on to focus on TV Fiction Writing for their masters at Glasgow Caledonian University which was supported with a scholarship from the Warner Bros. Creative Talent programme. In addition to pursuing their own projects, they have since worked on Holby City in the story department before moving on to EastEnders working as a storyliner for just over two years and then joining the writing team.
